Wednesday Classes
On Wednesday nights, over ____ students learn on site at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. To accomodate the volume of students and their schedules, various class meeting times are offered:
- Grade School (Grades K-5) Wednesday | 3:00PM and 6:00PM
- Middle School (Grades 6-8) Wednesday | 6:00PM and 7:15PM
- High School (Grades 9-12) Wednesday | 7:00PM
- Confirmation (Grade 10) Wednesday | 7:00PM
- Catch Up Classes (For students new to Religious Education) Wednesday | TBD
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is available to grades PK-2. Meetings take place in the Atrium, located in the Lower Level of the Church. Class offerings:
Level One (ages 3-6)
- Tuesday | 10:00-11:30AM and 5:00-6:30PM
- Wednesday | 3:30-5:00PM
- Thursday | 4:30-6:00PM
Level Two (ages 6-9)
- Monday | 5:00-6:30PM
Learn at Home
Learn at Home allows parents whose families cannot attend Wednesday night classes to teach the faith at home.
Families are provided the same materials and lesson plans that are used each Wednesday for use at home. The parents are responsible for teaching the materials and attending follow-up meetings to discuss progress.
Family Faith Formation
Family Faith Formation is a home-based religious education program for families with children in preschool through sixth grade.
It is open to all Holy Spirit Catholic Church families and can be used to supplement Wednesday classes, or in special circumstances, to replace Wednesday classes.
Families receive one packet of three lessons per month. These lessons are written by parents for parents.

Is there a cost to register my child for Religious Education?
Yes, the registration fee for Catechesis of the Good Shepherd or Wednesday classes is $60/child. Learn about financial aid.
Registration fees are submitted online with the registration. If alternate arrangements need to be made, please contact the church office at (605)-371-2320.
What are the parent's responsibilities?
Holy Spirit Catholic Church supports parents in their role as primary leaders in their family to teach the Catholic Faith.
Family involvement is crucial for all who participate in the religious education programs. Parents support their children by bringing their family to Mass every weekend, encouraging regular class attendance, and through family prayer times.
Parents also volunteer as catechists, substitute catchesists, members of the prayer team, and other roles listed on the Registration Form.
Volunteer involvement in the religious education program is required of every family. Please read the parent handbook before registering for classes.
What are Catch Up Classes?
Catch Up classes are one-on-one sessions for 2nd grade or higher who have never attended Religious Education classes.
The intent of Catch Up classes is that when ready, the child will transition into their grade level Religious Education class.
How do I report when my child will miss a class?
Call the Religious Education Office at (605)371-1478 before your child’s class time.
If leaving a voicemail, state your child's first and last name, grade, and class time.
My child was confirmed. Now what?
Involvement in Religious Education can continue past confirmation and into 11th and 12th grade! Ask about Faith Forward, a group for 11-12th graders that focuses on relevant topics like relationships, keeping your faith in college, and Catholic "adulting."
What additional opportunities are available for my child?
Children's Choir/Youth Choir: Opportunities to sing at Mass and other events are available for children K-12. View the Music Ministry page for more informatoin.
